No. 014Prius Plug-in Hybrid: Signature Series
We invited four artists to come up with some fresh, one-of-a-kind looks for the first-ever Prius Plug-in Hybrid—a vehicle soon to leave its own mark on the automotive world. Each Signature Series decal tells a different story, with each design echoing the uniqueness of the vehicle itself. Check out the videos above to discover the process underlying each artist’s creation and how the spirit of the Plug-in inspired such bold visual expressions.

Fun, it will be interesting to see what they come up with. Now what would be cool is to let us order a Prius with one of their designs on it and/or even better, let me submit my own design and have it arrive at the dealer with my “one-of-kind” graphics all ready to go on it.

Hey, this is going to work out well for America. The people of Asia can design the car and we Americans can market groovy images.

I think Prius has done more for America than Obama. what ever happened to that whole “change” thing?

We own a 2010 Gen. 3 Prius and the car gets 60mpg, you have to ask why doesn’t other brands have a vehicle to compete with the Prius?
Posted by George Whetzel on August 16, 2011 at 4:55 am
Fins. I want fins on the back of the car like a 1963 Cadillac.

where are the women?
Posted by Rachel on August 17, 2011 at 7:07 pm
What does that date 09.27.11 signify? Not the car itself, surely?
Posted by electropositive on August 17, 2011 at 7:11 pm
Do we get to choose a design?
Posted by Nancy on August 17, 2011 at 7:12 pm
So, where are the female artists?

Information to date indicates this will not be available until Spring 2012 – new carpool lane decals in CA available Jan/2012 but only 40K. Concerned that by release date it will be too late for car pool lane decals. More interested in function than form at this point.

Can you please make the car in a different color. How about Sunset Bronze Mica that you use on the Venza, for starts.

I am glad that Toyota is doing this with the Prius. Making it fun to have a car again. Makes me feel like I purchased a car that means something. Love it. I am a car ethusiast. It was a very hard decision for me to buy a prius. But because of things like this, it makes me love my Prius! Look forward to seeing the decals they come up with! I jsut hope it is available to ALL prius owners to get!

Ditto on the missing female artists!! Their designs will resonate with female and male buyers.

How come my local Toyota dealer (Glenn Toyota, FairLawn, NJ) doesn’t know about the new plug in Prius in development??? Just went today to get some info and he knew less than me!

Amazed that Toyota included no female artists in this (if the video is any indication). Even more amazed that there is no response from Toyota about this after multiple posts during the past 5 weeks.
Posted by Joshua on September 20, 2011 at 7:21 am
I dislike that you have showcased all male artists. Wouldn’t it have been fair to include at least one female artist?

I own a Mercury Mariner Hybrid. I am willing to trade in the SUV for something was better MPGs.

I have a 2001 Prius with 180 thousand miles on it. I love it. I want to get a plug in, but I live in Houston.
Posted by John Pirtle on September 26, 2011 at 5:30 pm
There are other car company’s that compete mileage wise with the Prius, like the 1989 Honda CRX HF. gets 58 mpg. I am a big fan of Toyota’s but hybrids are not the answer. there is a huge environmental impact to build any car especially a hybrid. If you really want to help the environment and get great mpg. go buy a diesel.

Come on, people. You don’t even feature Alaska on your map. Writing off an entire state? I love my Prius which runs happily even at -40F below. Give us a chance!

Might be good

The “Kaizen” spirit that makes Toyota what it is, live on. I look forward for the Prius plug-in Hybrid in 2012! Go Toyota, go!

Color, give me color. Silver, pearl and gold are only grey, white and beige in my books. Look at the 50′s for a rainbow. Colors that pop, colors that sparkle, colors that say “mine”, uniquely me.

My daughter has 2 Prius in her family and usually keeps a car 10 yrs. Bet they can’t resist your new plug-ins!

FAQs back in June/July said that the price would stay low and that’s why they decided to have a smaller batter (i.e., only takes you ~15 miles on a charge vs. 100 for the VOLT, Leaf, or others). I would say that $32 – 40K MSRP is NOT keeping the cost low. What is UP with that?
