The popular PlayStation®2 racing game Gran Turismo 4 gave Prius fans everywhere the chance to focus on mph for a change rather than mpg. The game let players customize their Prius and set out on the track against more than 700 cars.

2007 was a big year for live music, when Live Earth concerts toured the globe to raise awareness of the most critical environmental issues. One hundred fifty of the world’s best musicians played to fans in London, Sydney, Johannesburg and Shanghai, among others.

To round out a good year for entertainment, “An Inconvenient Truth” took home a major award for Best Documentary, with a very matter-of-fact presentation by Al Gore on the reality of global warming. That same year, the U.S. government ruled that carbon dioxide could also be regulated under the Clean Air Act. These two events alone helped support hybrids as the future of responsible transportation.
